You are here: Home > World Wired Women > World Wired Women (UK) > Domestic Violence > The Role of the Police The Role of the PoliceThe Police offer sympathetic help and advice. Most forces now have a Domestic Violence Unit (DVU) where you can talk to experienced, specially trained officers. You can ask to see a woman police offer if you would prefer and the police DVU can arrange for medical help if you need it and transport and a safe place for you and your children to go. I want to stay at homeRemember you are not alone, get help and advice quickly. If you have physical injuries contact your GP, Accident & Emergency department at your local hospital. If you are in immediate danger dial 999 for the police You may also have a number of concerns about your children; this may be another factor in deciding whether you stay in the violent relationship. You should discuss all these concerns with one of the agencies given earlier. I want him outThere are a number of legal options to get your partner out of the home whether you live in mortgaged/rented accommodation.
