Uninstalling Kazaa and Kazaa LiteClick on the "Start" button. The "Start" button is typically located at the bottom left hand side of the screen.
Select Settings. This will cause a popup menu to come out. Then select Control Panel.
When the Control Panel opens you will have an icon for "Add/Remove Programs".
Double-click that icon.
The "Add/Remove Programs Properties" windows will appear displaying a list of all the currently installed programs.
Locate Kazaa, Kazaa Media Desktop, or Kazaa Lite on the list, and click on it. If you are running Windows 95 or 98, click on the button that says Add/Remove - if you are running 2000 or XP click on the button that says Change/Remove. This will begin the uninstall process.
A window will come up confirming that you want to remove the program, select yes and follow the directions that it gives you.
NOTE: That many versions of Kazaa also install another application called "Kazaa Ads". Follow the same procedure of locating the program on the list and pressing the appropriate button to begin the uninstall process.
Kazaa (not Kazaa Lite) automatically installs applications which monitor your Internet usage and display advertisements. These may include DelFin Media Viewer, MediaLoads, b3d Projector, New.net, FirstLook Portal, and other applications. Kazaa also installs SaveNow, which monitors your on-line purchases and redirects sales commissions belonging to other referring sites to Kazaa. Uninstalling Kazaa does not automatically remove these applications.
To uninstall some of these programs:
1. Also remove each of the following items by selecting its name, then clicking Add/Remove and following the instructions on your screen:
b3d Projector
DelFin Media Viewer
FirstLook Portal Note: When you are asked whether you are sure you want to stop receiving news and other information, click Yes.
MediaLoads
MediaLoads Installer
SaveNow
New.net Domains 4.50
2. Close all open windows.
3. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. Note: If you are running Windows XP and the My Computer icon does not appear on your desktop, from the Start menu choose My Computer.
4. Double-click on the icon for your hard drive.
5. Open the Program Files folder.
6. Delete the following folders:
SaveNow
DelFin
FirstLook
NewDotNet
