Uninstalling eDonkey

Click on the "Start" button. The "Start" button is typically located at the bottom left hand side of the screen.

Select Settings. This will cause a popup menu to come out. Then select Control Panel.

When the Control Panel opens you will have an icon for "Add/Remove Programs".

Double-click that icon.

The "Add/Remove Programs Properties" windows will appear displaying a list of all the currently installed programs.

Locate eDonkey on the list, and click on it. If you are running Windows 95 or 98, click on the button that says Add/Remove - if you are running 2000 or XP click on the button that says Change/Remove. This will begin the uninstall process.

eDonkey2000 automatically installs TopText iLookup and UCmore, which monitor your Internet usage and display advertisements. Uninstalling eDonkey2000 will not automatically uninstall these applications. To uninstall TopText iLookup and UCmore:

1. Also look for and select TopText iLookup. Click Add/Remove.
2. Follow the instructions on your screen to remove TopText iLookup.
3. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties window, select UCmore. Click Add/Remove.
4. Follow the instructions on your screen to remove UCmore. When you are asked to reboot your computer, click OK. Note: If your computer does not automatically restart after you click OK, restart your computer.
5. When your computer has restarted, double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. Note: If you are running Windows XP and the My Computer icon does not appear on your desktop, from the Start menu choose My Computer.
6. Double-click on the icon for your hard drive.
7. Open the Program Files folder.
8. Right-click on the UCmore folder. From the menu which appears, choose Delete.
9. When you are asked if you are sure you want to remove the folder, click Yes.

Uninstallation does not remove certain components of UCmore and TopText iLookup, and eDonkey2000 may also install other advertising and/or monitoring software.

To completely remove these types of hidden applications several free applications are available for download.
