Teens and Intellectual Property

This month a new program run by Wired Safety's youth division

'Launching this month is a new program run by Wired Safety's youth division, Wired Kids. Troubled by what she sees as children and teens disrespecting the law and ethics by pirating videos and other copyrighted materials online, our Executive Director and cyberlawyer, Dr. Parry Aftab, has tapped the kids and teens themselves for help. Peers2Peers.org is the newest of our responsible surfing programs and is directed by the TeenAngels and student peer counselors. Intent on teaching youth that intellectual property is as real as tangible property, the program will ask kids and teens to design awareness and educational campaigns for broad distribution and will be delivering lesson plans, videos and programs for schools to be used as part of the regular curriculum. Confused about what's legal and what's illegal about downloading music online? Read our parents guide on talking to your children. For teens with questions, read our Teen Guide to Music Online (which will always be a work in progress).

Look for our upcoming announcements on the WiredSafety.org's review legal music sites and which ones we believe work well and protect your safety and privacy. Until then, if in doubt, visit iTunes.com, which is now available for both PC and Mac users and only costs $.99 per song for legal downloads.'
