Typosquatting

Many porn Web sites try and trick children into going there. They do it for a number of reasons, but bottom line, most earn money from attracting any traffic. And a child’s Web site visit (even by accident) is no different from an adult’s visit when certain banner ad revenue models are concerned. They will use many methods to trick kids into visiting their sites. They may register a popular children’s site domain name that has , for some reason , lapsed. They may register common typos and misspellings of famous kids sites. They may misrepresent their content to search engines and even pretend to be a child’s site, such as pokeman.

Follow this link to read more about how they misrepresent their content and the nature of their site to trick kids and even unsuspecting adults, into visiting the sites >>

While most people support consenting adults’ right to view legal porn, everyone agrees that it is unfair for pornographers to intentionally target children. More than unfair, it is also now a crime in the United States.

As part of the Amber Alert legislation package, typosquatting is now a crime in the United States. Porn network czar Zuccarini was charged with new typo-squatting law by U.S. Attorney for Southern District of New York and pleaded guilty in 2004. He was sentenced to 2-1/2 years in prison.

If you want to help protect others online, drop by our volunteer page and sign up. We are all unpaid volunteers and can always use more caring and dedicated help.
