You are here: Home > Information > Our Chain of Command > Communications Division Communications DivisionAs the information center for the entire WiredSafety organization, this division is one of WiredSafety's busiest groups. By working with liaisons from each division and team, the Communications division ensures that everyone involved will have the same correct data. Another function of this division is to release information to other divisions or teams as changes are made within the organization. It is vital that members and the public are made aware of the structure of the organization and the purpose of each part. Therefore, descriptions of every division and team, and job descriptions, where appropriate, were created. The Communications division has also made itself available to all members, old and new, as a place where they can get answers about the organization, their divisions, or their teams. If you can't find the answer, Communications is the place to go. In order to accomplish this efficiently, the Communications division houses several teams: Editorial TeamThis team of accomplished copywriters and published authors is responsible for writing most of the content of the WiredSafety Web sites, descriptive articles for publication, the text for presentations about the WiredSafety organization and much more. All divisions and teams within WiredSafety have the Editorial team at their disposal to author anything they might need for publicity, the public, or for their members. All directors and leaders are available to this team to ensure that information is correct and up-to-date. Because their talents are diverse, members of this team are also responsible for composing narratives and writing grant or funding applications. Intranet and Forum Communications TeamSome information has to be shared quickly. WiredSafety's organizations have an intranet and bulletin board system just for this purpose. This special team was handpicked for their ability to "think on their feet," so members can be informed swiftly with few misunderstandings. These volunteers are responsible for monitoring communications on the intranet and forums, as well. Volunteer Communications TeamNew (and old) volunteers for WiredSafety have numerous questions about different aspects of the organization and what is expected of them. Most of the time, volunteers can go to their division or team leaders for answers. Sometimes that's not possible, so this special team of patient communicators works directly with the tireless volunteers to ensure that there is no confusion. Media Communications TeamAlerting the media with news about the WiredSafety organization is extremely important if they are to help as many victims and users as possible. This team responds to many media requests and inquiries weekly. Parry Aftab, Executive Director of WiredSafety, has promised that no journalist or media representative will miss a deadline because of us. Why? It's simple: the more publicity the organization gets, the more people will know about WiredSafety, and we can then help more victims. Additionally, millions more computer users will be safer armed with the knowledge shared about preventive measures for online safety. The Media Communications team also has a Most Favored Journalists List for members of the media who want early information on important and emerging issues. Journalists who demonstrate a special interest in online safety, privacy and cybercrime issues will get news as soon as WiredSafety can deliver it. Good, insightful reporting helps everyone.
