A useful tip
Never allow your 13-year-old son to wash the dishes no matter how confident he seems to be about operating the dishwasher.
He will ignore the detergent dispenser and will instead, squirt more than half a bottle of concentrated washing up liquid over the dishes and turn the dishwasher to its highest setting, before going out to play.
You will have the foamiest garden on the block and the cleanest kitchen floor but you will no longer have a dishwasher.
Ignore your son's offers to mend the dishwasher. Get it over with and buy a new one.
