How do I encourage my child to come to me with questions and when things go wrong online?

That's easy. Play an active and interested part in your children's online life and don't overreact. Get to know your children's online friends and correspondents. Your children shouldn't be afraid to tell you anything, so don't criticize them when something goes wrong. Encourage your children to come to you when they are uncomfortable or receive a message that violates your rules or makes them uncomfortable. Secrets can be dangerous. Be the one your children share their secrets with, and be worthy of that valuable trust.
